Mohit Goel Arrested : Ringing Bells fraud

Mohit Goel, director of Freedom 251 maker Ringing Bells detained

Freedom 251, the cheapest smartphone promised to be launched early last year by Ringing Bells is back in the news. Mohit Goel, the director of the company has been detained by the Ghaziabad police on allegations of fraud.
Goel has been detained as the owner of Ayam Enterprises in Ghaziabad filed a FIR alleging that Ringing Bells defrauded the former of Rs. 16 lakh. The FIR states that the company paid Rs. 30 lakh to Ringing Bells via RTGS on various occasions, but received products worth just Rs. 13 lakh. After follow-up, they could get products and money for Rs. 14 lakh.
Ringing Bells is not new to controversies. Ever since its debut, the company has been falling into a lot of controversies. Once the Freedom 251 was launched, the company was accused of non-payment of dues as well as abrupt termination of the contract by Cyfuture, a call center service provider. Adcom wanted to subject Ringing Bells to legal action as the company distributed Adcom handsets to the media attendees instead of the Freedom 251.
As per Ringing Bells, around 30,000 customers booked the Freedom 251 among the 7 crore people who had registered for it. It remains unclear if the company was ever successful in shipping the phones to the customers who had purchased the same. In addition to the Freedom 251, the company also announced four feature phones, two smartphones, three power banks, and a 31.5-inch HD TV in the last year.

Airtel buys Telenor to compete with Jio

NEW DELHI: Norway's Telenor group has decided to exit the Indian telecom market and sell its business to Bharti Airtel, signalling the growing pressures in the mobile industry following fierce competitive pressures after the entry of Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio.
Telenor has a customer base of 44 million, and has operations in seven circles - Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Maharashtra, Gujarat, UP (East), UP (West) and Assam.

The agreement between the two companies happens at a time when Vodafone and Idea Cellular are also engaged in merger discussions to form the country's biggest mobile company.

Airtel said it has entered into a "definitive agreement" to acquire the Norwegian company's operations, and a final go-ahead will require regulatory approvals.

"The proposed acquisition will include transfer of all of Telenor India's assets and customers, further augmenting Airtel's overall customer base and network. It will also enable Airtel to further bolster its strong spectrum foot-print in these seven circles, with the addition of 43.4 MHz spectrum in the 1800 MHz band," the country's largest mobile operator said.

Airtel CEO Gopal Vittal said that when completed, the acquisition will undergo seamless integration, both on the customer as well as the network side, and further strengthen the company's market position in several key circles. "The customers of Telenor India will now be able to enjoy India's widest and fastest voice & data network, and a range of Airtel's world-class products and services."

Sigve Brekke, CEO of the Telenor Group, said that the decision to exit India has "not been taken lightly". "After thorough consideration, it is our view that the significant investments needed to secure Telenor India's future business on a standalone basis will not give an acceptable level of return."

He said that the deal with Airtel will be in the best interest of our customers, employees and Telenor Group. "Finding a long-term solution to our India business has been a priority for us, and we are pleased with our agreement."

The transaction is expected to close within 12 months. Telenor had announced its entry into India in 2008.

Unlimited 4G data by Telenor India

Telenor India giving unlimited 4g data at Rs 57/- for 28 days
Looks like the telecom operators are gearing up to counter attack Reliance Jio and its attractive services. It's just a day ago that Mukesh Ambani-headed firm announced the Prime Subscription Plan, as an extension to the existing Happy New Year.

Taking a look at the newly announced Reliance Jio Subscription Plan, other telecom giants, like Airtel, Vodafone, Idea are gearing up to match up to the race. However, looks like the smaller telcos are not quite far behind either.
Reports are such that Telenor India is apparently going to merge with Bharti Airtel very soon. Well, ahead of the merger, Telenor announces the cheapest data plan for all times, giving sleepless nights to the major telcos.
Telenor has announced a new data plan that offers unlimited 4G data at just Rs. 57 per month. This, when compared to Reliance Jio's Prime plan seems to be a much cheaper plan.
To recall, Reliance Jio's newly launched Prime subscription plan. To avail this offer, a user is required to recharge with Rs. 99 for a year, on top of that, will have to refill their account with Rs. 303 every month. In this regard, Telenor seems to beat Reliance Jio.
As per Mukesh Ambani, all the existing Reliance Jio user will be able to avail the offer soon after the Happy New Year offer ends. Well, just in case you aren't a Reliance Jio user and wish to avail the new offer, you have time until March 31.
Furthermore, in case a user doesn't subscribe to the Reliance Jio Prime Subscription plan, they will be automatically switched to a Jio postpaid or prepaid plan, where the user will have to pay have be pay for data and other services, however, voice calls remain free
